With its programmes, InVento Innovation Lab not only faces issues related to pollution and environmental sustainability, but also deals with social sustainability. A very important issue for this team is gender gap and equal opportunities.
Any kind of discrimination in Italy and other EU countries is prohibited, but nevertheless society and the mentality of the people continue to set limits and not to defend those who are not considered suitable. Unfortunately, this problem is also encountered in the working environment, especially in the comparison between men and women: different pay between colleagues with the same qualifications, difficulty in pursuing a career and obtaining respect. These differences in opportunities are gradually diminishing, but in some areas male dominance is still very strong, for example between STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
Invento Lab, collaborating with other companies, began to introduce these subjects and types of professions to secondary school students between 11 and 14 years of age. Through their programs they teach from a theoretical and especially, practical point of view various topics related to STEM, giving the possibility to both girls and boys to be interested in these topics.
Electrocoding with MicroBit
Ideal path for those who want to know and deepen the theme of electronics and sustainability. It promotes individual experimentation and Tinkering through the realization of concrete and creative projects that involve the construction, with recycled objects or materials of common use, of small machines that move, draw, emit sounds or respond to environmental stimulation.
Gioca la scienza (play science)
Path that merges the world of natural sciences with that of programming. Characterized by educational workshops provide the guided creation of mini-games, which will not only aim to teach the principles of programming, but will also be an opportunity for reflection on the beauty of nature.
Natura a Fumetti (nature through comics)
During the last years less and less importance has been given to artistic skills, stating that cultivating such passions is wasted only time because they do not yield enough money… But it is forgotten that art was the first means of communication and expression of feelings. It develops creativity, without which intelligence would be lost, because it would not be able to see beyond what is already known.
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” (Albert Einstein)
For this reason this path is born, in order to allow you to develop your storytelling skills, to enhance your passion for design and to deepen your knowledge of environmental sustainability. The comic becomes a narrative vehicle to tell a story related to social, environmental and cultural issues.
All these paths aim is to teach girls and boys, between 11 and 14 years of age, both environmental and social sustainability, so as to raise awareness and make them future adults, who respect themselves, others and the environment that surrounds them.
